The FIFA World Cup 2022 is currently underway in Qatar. The tournament involves 64 games. It will be played during the course of 29 days in 8 stadiums, also making it the shortest 32-team FIFA World Cup in history.

The Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 will see 32 teams which have been divided into eight groups of four (A to H) and only the top two teams will advance to the knockout stages.

Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands
Group B: England, Iran, USA, Wales
Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland
Group D: France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia
Group E: Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan
Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia
Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon
Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea
Except for the first two days, four matches will be played each day during the group stages. Each of the 32 teams will play three matches in the group stages before the knockouts begin with the round of 16 (pre-quarterfinals) on December 3. The semi-finals will be played on December 14 and 15, both at 8 am (GMT + 1) while the final will take place at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on December 18.
The host (Qatar) lost the first game of the tournament with Ecuador by 2 goals to nil making them the first host to lose the opening game in the history of world cup.
The defending champion (France) will face Australia on Tuesday by 8 pm.
